Marifat Allah (Knowing Allah) Part 1

Know Allah, Love Allah

Please note that we update Names of Allah after this note immediately:

Al Basit  الباسط
The Expander, The Granter of ample provision

Rootب س طMeaning
To expand,enlarge,extend

To grant abundance
To spread

Al Baasit is the One who provide sustenance abundantly to whomever He wills.
Allah is extremely generous, He Provides and Bestows many bounties upon His slaves.
He is The Giver and Provider.
Al-Baasit is The One Who can remove  the traces of any constriction we may feel in our hearts because of the difficulties we face in life

Ayat Ar-Ra`d 13:26)

Allah increases the provision for whom He wills, and straitens (it for whom He wills), and they rejoice in the life of the world, whereas the life of this world as compared with the Hereafter is but a brief passing enjoyment.

Hadith

Anas bin Malik (ra) narrated: Prices increased greatly during the time of The Prophet(SAWS) and so the people said:
“O Messenger of Allah ! Prices have become very high, so set them for us.
He (SAWS) said: Verily, it is Allah Who sets the prices, the Constrictor, The Generous, the Provider. Indeed I hope to meet my Lord without any one of you holding against me any act of injustice with respects to blood or wealth.”
(A sound hadith recorded by Abu-Dawod, At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah)

Al-Qaabid القابض
The Withholder/The Constrictor

Root  ق  ب  ض

Meanings
to take in the hand, clutch, to grasp
to have absolute ownership of something (hold in the hand)
to withhold, make scarce
to contract the heart, i.e. distress, depression, lack of joy

This name is not mentioned in the Quran but its mentioned  in a hadith.
The similar meaning is explained in other word   يَقْدِرُ which means the withholder or the Constrictor
Allah(swt) is the Restrainer and the Withholder. He takes and constricts the wealth and sustenance of His creation as He Wills.

The True Power of Al-Qaabid

Aspect  of qabd  shows us the true power of God. Allah  (exalted is He) seizes the souls and causes them to die, or releases them. Allah tells us:

“Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent -[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving –“ (Al Mulk, 67:1-2)

Hadith

Anas bin Malik (RA) narrated: Prices increased greatly during the time of The Prophet(SAWS), and so the people said: “O Messenger of Allah !: Prices have become very high, so set them for us..

Al Qaabid Al Baasit
The concept of qabd and bast have a lot to do with rizq (provision). It is Allah who ultimately provides for us—at time He withholds and at other times He gives. The name al-Razzaq explains this further.
Another aspect  is that Allah  seizes the souls and causes them to die, or releases them.
“Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent -[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving –“ (Qur’an, 67:1-2)
When we sleep, it is described as a small death, in which our souls are returned to God. Allah (swt) returns many of them, and withholds others.

The Constriction and Expansion of the Heart

Most relevant to us is the state of our hearts, which we struggle with daily.
We sometimes feel constricted. Sometimes it is this constriction that brings us back to Allah
Sheikh Ratib an-Nabulsi states that these two Names are inseparable, because “if you say that Allah is ‘Al-Qabid’ (the Withholder), it would mean that you describe Allah as being niggardly or miserly;
Allah, All Mighty, is far above such evil qualities.
However, when you say that Allah is ‘Qabid, Bassit’ (Withholder, Extender), you describe Him as being Powerful and Wise.” He withholds when it is good and He gives when it is good.

We all go through periods of constriction. Our chests feel tight, we may feel angry with people and we find no pleasure in acts of worship. On the other hand, during the good times there is a feeling of great expansion in the heart, a lightness and a joy.

Both of these are from Allah,al-Qaabid al-Baasit, He who contracts and He who expands. The manifestations of qabd and bast are many, and we will explain the other meanings before reflecting on the state of the heart.

The person who is in a state of constriction can look forward to the expansion and the lightness.
The Prophet Yusuf alayhi as-salaam  had to be thrown in a well before coming into the care of the Minister. He had to be put in prison before he was given power and reunited with his family. But he understood that it was from Allah (swt) and was able to make the best of his situation. He knew that the relief was coming.

We too need to understand the concept of qabd—contraction. The feeling of qabd is sometimes due to our own priorities. We may desire approval, control and security from other than Allah (swt), and when they fail us the natural feeling of contraction occurs1 . It hurts. And some of us decide to keep it there. We let the feeling of qabd push us farther away from Allah (swt), because we do not understand why it is there.

But Allah (swt) is al-Qaabid, and just like a headache tells us we have not slept well or a stomachache tells us the food we have eaten is bad, this qabd tells us to reflect on its causes. There is a root cause, and the only way to get rid of the discomfort of the contraction is to deal with its source. And just like Allah (swt) is al-Qaabid, He is al-Baasit who can remove even the traces of any constriction we may have felt.

The key is to know that after every hardship is ease, as promised in the Qur’an. And the state of the believer is that when he is in a state of ease and feeling at rest in his heart, he is grateful.
Sheikh Omar AbdelKafy stated that the heart is like a home. At the times when we are able, it is important to build around the house, so that if a thief decides to rob us, he has to get past so much more just to able to get to the front door

Al Muqaddim المقدم
The One Who brings forward

Root ق د م

Meaning
to precede, to come before
to head, to lead
to offer, to bring forward
to advance, to promote

Allah Al Muqaddim is:
The One Who presents things and places them in their right place.
The One Who moves things forward. The One Who grants advancement.
The One Who expedites things.

Ibn al-Qayyim: Allah is the Expediter(brings things forward, hastens) and the Delayer, and these are two qualities of His deeds as well as being attributes of His Essence.

Hadith
Seeking Allah’s forgiveness  after the last tashahhud and before salam::
Allaahum-maghfir lee maa qaddamatu, wa maa ‘akhkhartu, wa maa ‘asrartu, wa maa a’lantu, wa maa ‘asraftu, wa maa ‘Anta a’lamu bihi minnee. ‘Antal-Muqaddimu  wa ‘Antal-Mu’akhkhiru laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa Anta.
“O Allah, forgive me for those sins which have come to pass as well as those which shall come to pass, and those I have committed in secret as well as those I have made public, and where I have exceeded all bounds as well as those things about which You are more knowledgeable. You are Al-Muqaddim (The One Who brings forward)  and Al-Mu-akhkhir. (The One Who puts back) None has the right to be worshipped except You.”([Muslim 1/534])

Allah Al Muqaddim Al Muakhkhir

Allah is the One Who gives precedence to whatever has to be given precedence with regard to rulings and the order of things, as and how He likes.
Whatever He gives precedence to should be given precedence, and whatever He gives less priority to should be given less priority.
He is the One Who puts back what has to be put back, and there is wisdom and goodness in whatever He does, even though the purpose of that wisdom and goodness may be hidden from us.
He gives preference to those among His close friends (awliya’) whom He loves over others among His slaves;
He raises some of His created beings above others in status;
He brings forward those whom He wills to higher ranks and He keeps down those whom He wills;
He postpones things from their expected times because in His wisdom He knows the consequences of the delay. None can bring forward what He puts back and none can put back what He brings forward.
Taqdeem (expediting, bringing forward) includes:

Al-Taqdeem al-kawni (universal bringing forward): such as creating some created beings over others, making cause precede effect, conditions precede results, etc.
Al-Taqdeem al-shar’i (preference in status): such as giving a higher status to some Prophets over others, and giving all Prophets a higher status than other people, and giving a higher status to some people than others, all in accordance with His Wisdom.

Al-Mu’akhkhirالمؤخر
The One Who Puts Back ,The Delayer

Root  أ خ ر

Meaning:
to cause to go back
to postpone, put off, delay, retard

Allah delays or slows whatever He wills. He defers and holds back whomever He wills in accordance with His wisdom. He delays certain things out of Mercy for us, but out of ignorance we become impatient.

He is al-Mu’akhir. He delays out of goodness.

Does He not delay punishing us for our sins?-- this is for our own good-- so that we can repent

Ayat

If Allah were to take mankind to task for their wrong-doing, he would not leave hereon a living creature, but He reprieveth them to an appointed term, and when their term cometh they cannot put (it) off an hour nor (yet) advance (it). (Surah Nahl 16:61)

Hadith:
The Prophet(SAWS)used to call upon Allah in the night prayer and say,” Forgive me my previous And future sins; And whatever I concealed or revealed And You are the Advancer and You are the Delayer.”{Al Bukhari }

Al-Mubeen المبين
  The Manifest Truth

Root  ب ي ن
Meaning  to make  clear

Al Mubeen has 2 meanings
1- The clear existence of Allah  through the evidence and signs that prove His Oneness.

Everything in the Universe indicates that Existence of Allah (swt) such as the earth, the heavens, the mountains, and the stars.

The Existence of Allah is manifest in His Sending of the Prophets who glorified and exalted Him and acquainted people with him as well.

Al-Khaatabi says: Al-Mubeen means The One Whose Oneness is clear and Who has no associates. { Sha’n ad-Du’a, p. 102}

2- The second meaning is the fact that Allah makes the Truth clear. This includes acquainting  us with Him in order to guide us to know Him.

Az-Zajjaji says:  |Al-Mubeen is the agent noun of the verb “abaana” which means: to explain and make things clear through word of deed.”

Ayat

يَوْمَئِذٍ يُوَفِّيهِمُ اللَّهُ دِينَهُمُ الْحَقَّ وَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِينُ
That Day, Allah will pay them in full their deserved recompense, and they will know that it is Allah who is the perfect in justice. {24:25}

Allah (swt) is Al-Mubeen, clarified to His slaves the right way to guidance and indicated the deeds that deserve His Reward and those that draw His Punishment.

“Created man, [And] taught him eloquence” {55:3-4}

Manifestation of Truth from Allah can be achieved in two ways

1- In His Books that HE revealed to His Prophets and Messengers

2- In His signs that He created as proofs of His existence

Mubeen is used in many aspects:

الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ The clear Book [The Quran]

الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ  The conveying of the message is clear

نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ     The messenger who was conveying the message was clear

عَدُوًّا مُبِينًا  The shaytan is a  clear enemy to mankind

The Attribute of clarity or directness is one of the most glorious attributes

Al Muhit المحيط
The Encompasser

Root ح و ط
Meaning
To Guard/To Protect/ To Defend
To Have Compassion
To Surround and Encompass a thing

Allah encompasses everything and is above everything.Nothing can escape Him.He encompasses everything by His Mercy, Knowledge, ability, hearing and seeing.
Being encompassing doesn't mean that Allah is like a ship with creatures in it. Allah is above this kind of understanding. What it means is that He encompasses everything by His Knowledge and Ability, and all creatures are like a mustard seed in one of your hands and nothing more.(sharh al aqidah at Tahawiyyah)

AzZajjaji says: Al Muhit is an agent noun that means the one Who Encompasses everything because everything is under His control and nothing can go against His Will.

He keeps complete records of What HIs creatures say and do (AtTalaq 65:12 ; Al Isra 17:60;Al Kahf 18,91, Baqarah 2 :19)

When the torture of Allah befalls some people, it will encompass them (Hud 11:84)
The torment of Hell on Doomsday will encompass the disbelievers (Kahf 18:29)

Ayaat:Al Imran 3:120If good touches you, it distresses them; but if harm strikes you, they rejoice at it. And if you are patient and fear Allah , their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do.
They try to conceal themselves from people, but they cannot conceal themselves from Allah. He is with them when they spend the night saying things that are not pleasing to Him. Allah encompasses everything they do. ( Surat an-Nisa’, 4:108)

Not a thought or whisper remains hidden from Allah. He knows everyone’s most secret secrets, for He is nearer to them than their jugular veins.
And, as He encompasses the entire universe, He controls all beings. This is true even for those universes of which we know very little or nothing, such as the realms of the angels, jinn, and many others.

Al Wakil الوكيل
The Trustee, The Disposer of Affairs

Root word : و ك ل
Meaning

to appoint or entrust for the care or management of something. to be a guardian of one’s intereststo rely upon. This root appears 70 times in the Quran in four derived forms. Examples of these forms include tawakkaltu (“I put my trust”) and al-mutawakkileen (“the ones who put trust”).Al Wakil comes 14 times in the Qur’an.Linguistically the Wakeel of a person is one who efficiently represents him or does what he is incapable of doing on his behalf.Al-Wakeel is the Ultimate Trustee, Guardian and Administrator of all things.Al Wakil as a Name of Allah means that He is in charge of all His ceatures and it also means the Guarantor .(Lisan al -Arab : 3/977) Ibn Manzur : The One Who provides and guarantees people’s sustenance .He is the One Who disposes the affairs of His slaves Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the Wakil over all things ,( Az-Zumar39: 62)

Trusting Allah doesn't mean that we rely on Allah without taking any means, or exerting any effort or to be lazy.
It means we should follow the truth, stay steady on the principles and bepatient.
We should still strive for the sake of Allah, while all the time trusting Him to do the Best for us.(An Naml27:79) (Yunus10:85)

His Predestination shall go on and His Punishment will be severe for the disbelievers.
Disbelievers will realise the Power of Allah only on the Day Of Judgement.
People become decieved by their own Power and realise it when Allah's Power overcomes and destroys them like the people before us(Eg Aad- thought they were very strong and Powerful , they were turned to nothing by Allah's Power. (Fussilat 41:16-17 ; Ghafir 40:21 ;Al Anbya 21:11-15)
Allah helped the Prophet with winds and unseen soldiers. ( Al Ahzab 33:25)
These stories remind us of the Power and Glory of Allah as well as His retribution.

Duaa:

‘Uthmaan ibn(RA) that he complained to the Prophet (SAWS) about some pain that he had felt in his body since he became Muslim.
The Prophet (SAWS) said to him:
“Put your hand on the part of your body that hurts and say: ‘Bismillaah (in the name of Allah)’ three times, then say seven times:‘A’oodhu bi ‘izzat-illaah wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajid wa uhaadhir (I seek refuge in Allah and His Power from the evil of what I find and I fear).’”.
Uthmaan(RA)said: I did that and Allah took away what I was suffering, and I still tell my family and others to do that.

Al Mateen المتين
 The Most Strong

Root م ت ن

Meaning
to be strong, firm, and hard.
to be solid or robust.

Aayah:
Verily, Allah is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong.(Adh-Dhaariyat, 51 : 58)

Allah is firm and strong. He is not in need of anything; He is not in need of His creation. But we are in need of Him. He has the utmost power to do as He likes. Allah is able to do all things, and His strength knows no bounds.

Linguistically, mateen means something very strong and very stable; its foundation is unshakeable.
Al-Qawiyy is the One who possesses the attribute of inexhaustible strength, whereas Al-Mateen is the One whose nature it is to be firm, steadfast, and determined.
He is the One who can easily overcome anything through supreme firmness and strength of determination!

At Tawwab  التواب
The Ever Returning

The One Who Forgives andAccepts repentance

Root ت و ب
Meaning
To Return
To Repent

To be repeatedly summoned or called

Allah At Tawwab is One Who repeatedly  forgives His slaves and accepts their repentance, inspite of repeatedly committing of sins, repenting and asking Allah of forgiveness.
Al Khattabi adds Forgiving of sins and accepting repentance is repeated whenever repentance is repeated. When Allah grants a slave repentance, it means He guides him to repent.

Repentance is going back to doing good after one has committed sins.
Allah is At Tawwab regardless of the sins of those who repent, as long as it is sincere.

We should remember that Allah alone can accept repentance from His slaves, not the Prophets, or angels or any other human being no matter how pious. Repentance from sins should be to Allah alone.
Allah has asked us to purify ourselves by repenting to him, so that we can rid ourselves of our sins to enter Paradise.

Ayat :At-Taubah [9:104]

Are they not aware that it is Allah Who accepts the repentance of His servants and accepts their alms, and that it is Allah Who is Oft-Relenting, Ever Merciful?

Hadith:

Abu Said Al-Khudri (ra) narrated : Prophet (SAWS) said:
“If a person embraces Islam sincerely, then Allah shall forgive his past sins, and after than starts the settlement of accounts: the reward of his good deeds will be ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed, and an evil deed will be recorded as it is unless Allah forgives it.

Accepted repentance is one which is sincere repentance

O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance! (Tahreem 66:8)

Steps of Repentance
1)Admitting one's sin
Repentance is for believers who admit their sins and do their best to abandon such wrong acts.
How can people who don't know that they are sinning, repent?? Therefore knowledge of our deen is very important! It just cannot be stressed enough how important it is to know about our deen and our Rabb!
2)Self Reform

Whoever wants to repent to Allah must quit committing the sin he used to commit.
Eg If one has bad friends, replace them with good ones, who will remind you about Allah.
Remember we are known by the company we keep. The bad actions of people are bound to have some effect on us.
Disbeliever's repentance can be when they embrace Islam and do Good Deeds.(At Tawbah9:5)
IMP:: Sometimes we may decide to repent and do good deeds but could fail for whatever reason and go back to our old ways. In such case, we should repent to Allah again and make the same intentions as step 1 and 2. Allah loves it when we return to him again and again!

3)Declaring the Truth
Whoever commits a sin that involves hiding the truth , should make the truth be known before they repent. (Baqarah 2:160)

4) Repenting from sins  involving the Rights of Other people.
If the sin related to the rights of other people, then we must give the right back to its owner.

We should repent to Allah as quickly as possible in case death overtakes us or the torture of Allah befalls us. (An Nisa 4:18)

Al ‘Afuww  العفو
 The Pardoner

Root   ع ف و
Meaning:
To forgive, to pardon
To pass over ,absolve, remove all traces

to turn away from punishing

AlGhazali: The One who not only forgives sins and overlooks offences-- but also cancels out the sins.
Allah overlooks many of our sins ;otherwise  mankind would have been
destroyed for their wrongdoing.( An Nahl 16:61)
Al Afuu conceals the sins of His slaves in dunya and in aakhirah. He substitutes the sins with good deeds.
Al-Qurtubi indicates that this quality is also indicative of Allah being easy on His creation.

Ayat
That [is so]. And whoever responds [to injustice] with the equivalent of that with which he was harmed and then is tyrannized - Allah will surely aid him. Indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving.[Al Haj, 22 : 60]
Allah has asked the people to forgive whatever wrong is done against them when they are able to retaliate. If they do so, then Allah has promised to forgive them (An Nisa 4:149) ( At Taghabun 64:14) (Noor 24:22)

Hadith:
The Prophet(SAWS) said," Charity doesnt not reduce one's own wealth: pardoning others increases one's own power and dignity; and whoever humbles oneself before Allah , he will be elevated instead"

Ar Ra'uf الرؤوف
The Most Kind

Root ر ء فMeaning
To be kind,merciful, compassionate
To show pity, tenderness

Allah Ar Rauf is the Most Kind , and gives mercy to whomever He chooses.
Al Hasan Al Basri: Allah is so kind with His servants that He warns them against  Himself(ie His Punishment)

Which means that Allah has informed of His Punishment out of His mercy to us. What would happen if we were never informed of the punishment and were punished all of a sudden!

He has informed us of our hisaab on the Day of Judgement. This is so that we can prepare ourselves while still alive for what we will be confronted with (Ale Imran 3:30)

It is part of Allah's Kindness that He provides rizq and good health to those who blaspheme Him and disobey Him.Ibn Kathir: It is due to Allah's kindness that He sent Messengers and Books to guide mankind, to eradicate doubts and confusion. ( Al Hadid 57:9)
Also part of His Kindness is that He has made available the means of transportation such as camels, mules and donkeys-- and also cars and planes. Only the  people of understanding and faith can understand that this is out of the Kindness of Allah.
The True believer who really knows that Allah is the Most Kind and Merciful to His slaves goes back to Allah , calls out to Him by His name Ar Rauf and asks Him for His Mercy and Kindnesss.

Ayat: Surah Hashr, 59:10

And those who came after them say: "Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful

Al Ghani  The Most Rich(free of want)

Root  غ ن ي
Meaning

To be rich,wealthy

To be free from wants or needs
To be able to do without help from others, self-sufficient

Linguistically, ghina, the root word of "al-Ghaniyy", means: independence by virtue of having self-sufficiency.
It is the opposite of faqr, poverty, want, need, etc.
Independence or self-sufficiency is of various types-- one is the absence of need, and none is independent of needing anyone or anything other than Allah.
This name occurs 18 times in the Qur’an
Al-Ghaniyy has no need, within Himself or in His Attributes or deeds, for anything or anyone at all.
He needs none while everything and everyone need Him.
Al-Ghaniyy is the Perfect One due to what He has and what is with Him.
Need is a deficiency, and the needy person is incapable of attaining what he desires or aspires for. Allahs is free from all this!

As Zujjaj said:” And He is Al Ghaniy (The Rich) and Al Mustaghniyy (Free of any need or want) of the creation due to His qudrah(power), and the greatness of His authority and the creation is poor and needy of His benevolence and His power, just as Allah the Exalted said, “And Allah is Rich (Free of want) and you are poor and in need.” (Muhammed 47:38)

Al Khattabee said: “Al Ghaniyy is the one who is free of need from the creation, and from their support and their aid in His own dominion. He has no need of them, and they are needy of Him, in want. Just as He has described Himself, the Exalted, so He said, and Lofty is the One who said, “And Allah is Rich (Free of want) and you are poor and in need.” (Muhammed 47:38)

Ayat : [Al Fatir 35:15]

O mankind! Ye are the poor in your relation to Allah. And Allah! He is the Absolute, the Owner of Praise

Hadith-Allah Al Ghaniyy
“O My servants, if the first and the last of you and the human and the jinn of you were to gather together and all asked of Me and if I were to give everyone of them what he asked, that would not decrease what I have any more than a needle decreases what is in the ocean when it is put into it.”
SubhaanAllah, the Glory of Allah. Let’s try and imagine for a moment the vastness of the ocean. No land in sight as far as the eye can see, depths so deep that no sunlight can reach them, and they remain uncharted by human beings.
Only Allah (swt) knows the vastness of the ocean and its depths. Then let’s imagine the fineness of a single needle, its tip so tiny it can barely been seen.
If it were dipped into the ocean and lifted out, how much water would have been decreased from the ocean? A drop?
A single drop compared to the vastness of the ocean. We can hardly imagine something more vast compared to something so small.
Such is the vastness of what Allah’s has with Him (swt), that if all the human beings and all the jinns were to think of everything that they could desire, and to ask Allah (swt) for it, and He (swt) were to give it to them, it would not decrease from what He (swt) has but the tiniest drop.
--Part of a long Hadith Qudsi, narrated by Abu Dharr found in Muslim.

Al Barr البر
The  Most Kind, The Righteous, The Source of Goodness
Root ب ر ر

Meaning
To be affectionate ,gentle,kind
To be just , proper, honest and truthful
To be good, pious, virtuous, righteous

It comes from the word Birr which is a unique word that entails each and every act of righteousness and piety.
Al-Qurtubi : Al-Barr is the One who does not stop His ihsaan because of the sins and disobedience of His slaves.
Imam Al-Ghazali : He is the One who graciously bestows upon those who ask of Him  and those who worship Him. He gives the Best and Most Beautiful Reward

Ar-Raazi says: He is the One who is kind to the wrongdoers, pardons transgression, forgives the sinner, turns to the one who repents to Him, accepts the plea of those who ask Him. Even though we should be turning to Allah with praiseworthy actions and good expectaitons, Allah  has turned to us with this way.
Ibn al-Qayyim says: Al-Barr is the Most Kind and Courteous; the One who is Gentle with His servants. He does not want hardship for them, rather only ease. He pardons their many sins and wrongdoings. He does not take them to account for all of their crimes. He rewards their good deeds with ten more like it, while He does not recompense a sin with more, and He does not hold their desire to sin against them.
Al-Barr is loving to His slaves, and He is the One who does good to them through His vast blessings and favors, in His gratefulness and His response and turning to them.He is constantly generous and sympathetic to them.

All the kindness and courteousness in the world is nothing compared to His kindness to believers in Paradise in the Hereafter.

Ayat: Surah At Tur 52:28
"Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful."
The pious slave is grateful to His Rabb and races for His pleasure, and he turns away from that which He hates.

to be able to prevail, to have control over

These three names of Allah from the same root 'qadr' imply power, ability and omnipotence. This means that Allah has The Power over all things in the the heavens and the earth.

Al Qaadir and Muqtadir are different intensities of the Power Allah has.

This root appears 132 times in the Quran in 11 derived forms. Examples of these forms aretaqdiru (“is decreed”), qadran (“a measure”), and maqdooran (“destined”).
Allah calls Himself Al-Qadeer once in the Quran. Al-Qadeer is the One with complete power. He is the One who decrees; He simply says, Be! and it is

Al-Muqtadir is the One who has the power and the ability to do whatever He decides. His Power enforces all decrees and His decree prevails in every situation.
Muqtadir is the intensive form and refers to the use of supreme power to enforce whatever His wisdom decides.
The ‘mu’ at the beginning of the word in Arabic refers to the do-er or the one who is (of an action), eg Muslim, one who submits.

Allah  refers to Himself as Muqtadir four times in the Quran.
Allah is All Powerful who can create things out of nothing, and nothing can stop Him from doing what He has decided out of His Perfect Wisdom.
Allah will display His Power on the Day of Judgement when the earth will be grasped by His Hand and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand. (AzZumar 39:67)

Destiny is the Power and Knowledge of Allah of everything He wills to create in the manner He wills. (AlAla 87:2-3;Al Ahzab 33:38)
Ibn Abbas(RA) said that anything that Allah wants to do to His servants ,be it punishment or reward is in Allah's great Power.
Ayat : Surah An Nahl 16:70

It is Allah who creates you and takes your souls at death; and of you there are some who are sent back to a feeble age, so that they know nothing after having known (much): for Allah is All-Knowing, All-Powerful

Du'a

La illaha ilAllahu, waHdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul Mulku, wa lahul Hamd, wa Huwa ala kulli shaiy'in Qadeer
(There is No God But Allah Alone, who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the raise, and He is Able to do all things)
Whoever says the above ten times, will have the reward for freeing four slaves from the Children of Isma'il (Bukhari;  Muslim)
Whoever says the above one Hundred times, has the reward of freeing ten slaves, a hundred good deeds are recorded for him and a hundred bad deeds are wiped away and he has gained refuge from the devil that day until evening and none shall come with anything better except someone who has done more.( Bukhari;  Muslim)

Power and Mercy
Al-Qadeer has the power to replace a whole nation with another one in whatever way He wants. With His power He can make large pieces of the earth lifeless and at the same time grant or withhold great amounts of possessions from whomever He wills.
Just as the power of His punishment is unparalleled, so is His power to grant mercy to His sincere slaves. As a reward for their patience, certainty of faith, and trust in Him, Al-Qadeer uses His power to help His servants out of difficulties.
We find beautiful examples of His power in saving Ibrahim ‘alayhi sallam from the fire, Yunus ‘alayhi sallam from the belly of the fish, Yusuf ‘alayhi sallam from the well, and the other innumerable moments He helps, relieves, saves, and comforts His servants throughout their lives.

Allah Al Qadeer Al Muqtadir

"No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but is inscribed in the Book of Decrees -- (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allah" (Al-Hadid 57:22)
Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us.  He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector)."  And in Allah let the believers put their trust. (At-Tauba 9:51)
And everything, small and big is written (in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz already beforehand i.e. before it befalls, or is done by its doer).(Al-Qamar 54:53)

How often have we been upset of losing money, possessions, or a job? When things become too difficult , we  ask ourselves, Why me? What did I do wrong?
We should remember everything is already predistined for us. Whatever has befallen us was not meant to escape us, and whatever has escaped us was not meant to befall us.
If this belief were to be firmly ingrained in our heart, then all hardship and difficulty would become ease and comfort.
We should not feel overly troubled if we are afflicted with sickness, the death of a son, or a loss in wealth.
Allah has decreed these matters to occur and the decisions are His, and His alone. When we truly believe in this, we shall be rewarded well and our sins shall be atoned for it. For those that are afflicted with disaster, glad tidings await them: so remain patient and happy with your Lord.
We should not think that we could have prevented the fence from falling, the water from flowing, the wind from blowing, or the glass from breaking!! We cannot prevent event the smallest thing from happening or not happening whether we wanted to or not. All that has been pre-ordained shall come to pass.
Our tawfeeq (ability) is from Al-Muqtadir only, our success is not because of us but because He enabled us to accomplish matters.  When we show our need for Him, Al-Muqtadir will support us but when we think we can depend on our own power for even the blink of an eye, He will abandon us.💫
And let not those who disbelieve think that they can outstrip (escape from the punishment). Verily, they will never be able to save themselves[AlAnfal, 8:59]
We often take this ayah as referring to disbelievers, but we often  fall into the trap of thinking that ‘our children are good, because we raised them well’ or ‘I have this job, because I am clever.’

We should always humble ourself by thinking: all I have is from Allah Al-Muqtadir!

AdhDhahir الظاهر The Apparent The Evident The Ascendant

Root   ظ ه ر

Meaning:

to be visible, manifest, obvious, clear

to open, to come out, to cause to appear after being concealed

to ascend, mount, have higher status

Dhahar means that which goes from the center and spreads out, disperses or radiates into being, that is, it becomes outwardly manifest.

Allah is manifest, clear, apparent and visible.

This name is to not be taken literally in the sense that we can “see” Allah visibly but Allah is evident all around us.

Allah is above His creation but is seen through His creation. Allah has created the earth and through the earth’s creations we know that Allah is the One and Only God.

AdhDhahir indicates The Greatness of His attributes and the insignificance of every single creation---Allah is above all of His Creation.

AzZajjaji: Although Allah is Unseen , He is the Most High and Visible-(Dhahir)- through His Signs and Actions .

AlBayhaqi : AzZahir means the One who is clear through His Visible Signs and Proofs that indicate that He is the One, The Unique in His Work and The One Who is Worthy of worship.

Although we cannot see Allah in this life because we are too weak to behold His Majesty, in the Hereafter people will be recreated in a way  that resists annihilation/destruction. Thus, the believers will be able to see Allah in Paradise.

Al Baatin  البطين
The Hidden, The One Who Knows The Hidden.

Root ب ط ن

Meaning
To Be concealed, To lie hidden

To penetrate into, To be inside

This name is opposite of Allah's Name Ad-Dhahir.
Allah is the Unseen.  We cannot see Allah nor perceive Him.  Even the Prophets of Allah to whom Allah spoke to couldn't  see him.
Although He is Unseen, He is the Most High and is Visible through His Signs around us.
There is another meaning to this Name , that is the Inward, Who is near to us through His knowledge, hearing and sight.

Ibn Katheer: Allah is knowing of all things.
Al Batin indicates His Awareness and Knowledge of all secrets,  that which is in the hearts and and it indicates His Closeness and Nearness to all in a manner which befits His Majesty.
Ayat : Surah Hadid  57:3
"  He is the First and the Last and the Manifest and the Hidden, and He is Knower of all things. "

This is the Ayah indicated in the Hadith of `Irbad bin Sariyah that is better than a thousand Ayat. Abu Dawud recorded that Abu Zamil said, "I mentioned to Ibn `Abbas that I felt something in my heart. He said, `Doubts' and then laughed. Next, he said, `No one can escape this. Allah the Exalted stated,
(So if you are in doubt concerning that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who are reading the Book before you. Verily, the truth has come to you from your Lord.)(Yunus 10:94)'

He then said to me, `When you feel any of this in your heart, recite this Ayah .
He is Al-Awwal and Al-Akhir, Az-Zahir and Al-Batin. And He is the All-Knower of everything.

AlBaatin –TheHidden One

“When Musa came at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, ‘My Lord, show(Yourself) to me that I may look at You.’ He said: ‘You shall never see Me. But look at the mount. If it stays at its place, you will see Me.’ So when his Lord appeared to the Mount, it smashed, and Musa fell down unconscious.” [AlAraaf, Ayat 143]

The Prophet (SAWS) explained this , ‘And when his Lord appeared to the mountain’ by holding out the tip of his little finger and saying: “Like this.” [AtTirmidhi]
In other words, Allah showed only a tiny little part of Himself to the mountain.Allah had told Musa (as) that it was not possible to view Him.
Ibn Katheer( AlBidayah WanNihayah) that said , “O Musa! No living soul sees Me, but will perish, and no solid but will be demolished.”
However, Allah obliged Musa (as) and told him to look at the mountain and if it were able to withstand viewing Allah, so might Musa (as).

But the mountain could not behold such Majesty and collapsed to dust.
And Musa (as) who was only looking at the mountain fell unconscious.
“When he recovered, he said: ‘Pure are You. I repent to You, and I am the first to believe (that no one can see You in this world.)’”

We cannot see things that are hidden and we also cannot see things which are so bright that they dazzle the senses, such as the bright sun at noon.
Allah is Baatin (hidden) because He cannot be seen in the way that other created things can be seen. Allah is too Majestic and Exalted to be viewed by eyes that are finite and mortal.
To understand Allah’s existence using our five senses and reason alone is as impossible as measuring the depth of the ocean using a metre rod.

But through His works we know He is there and through revelation He has informed us a little regarding what He is like.

Al Warith : The Inheritor

Root و ر ث
Meaning
to inherit,to be an heir
to be the owner or sustainer after someone

Al Warith  is The Inheritor, The One Who will Last after everything has been annihilated/wiped off and The One Who inherits the property of all creatures after their death. He gives this property to whoever He wills.

Al-Qurtubi points out that though Allah owns all things, He entrusts to people wealth while they live.People inherit this earth one generation after another.

Man's ownership of this earth is tansient, temporary.
Everything will perish except Allah. (Rahman 55:26-27)
The True Owner is Allah! (Maryam 19:40)
When we realize this, we will stop hoarding  wealth and will be more motivated to spend. \(Ale Imran 3:180)

Ayaat

Everyone upon the earth will perish,And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor. (Rahman 55:26-27)
And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors."

[Al Anbiya, 21 : 89]

The One Who Assures His Creatures that He will not deal unjustly with them .
He is the Bestower of His Security from His Punishment, based on a person doing actions

This name is mentioned only once in the Quran
{Al Hashr 59:23}
Linguistically, this Name includes two main meanings.

1)emaan, which is to affirm something and the opposite of it is to deny something. Al Mu’min is the One who affirms and believes His oneness.

2)aman, which means security, safety, and freedom from fear.

Allah is the One who gives security. And what is the opposite of security? Fear. Allah is the One Who removes fear.

From the same root is also the word amaanah (translated as “a trust”), which also includes “the One who is faithful” .

Who Gets the Aman of Allah?

The ones who have emaan (belief, faith in Allah ) will receive Allah’s aman (security).
They will experience this security in times of trial ,in this world as well as in the Hereafter.
On the Day of Judgement the believers will have aman, security.

Abu Hurairah (ra) reported: The Prophet (saw) said, "By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer.'' It was asked, "Who is that, O Messenger of Allah?'' He said, "One whose neighbor does not feel safe from his evil". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Al Ghafir : The Forgiver

Root : غ ف ر
Meaning : To forgive, grant pardon

Names with Root :
Al Ghaffar (The Perpetual Forgiver)
Al Ghafir (The Forgiver)
Al Ghafoor (The Forgiving)
Allah calls Himself Al-Ghaffaar— The All-and-Oft-Forgiving— five times in the Quran.
Al-Ghafour occurs around 91 times.

Al-Ghaffaar is the One Who forgives our sins, covers our shortcomings, and protects us from the effects of our mistakes in this life and the next .He even turns them into good deeds as long as we turn back to Him with full devotion and repent to Him sincerely.
Allah may forgive any sin, no matter how big. But the only sin , He will not forgive is Shirk and Kufr. (AnNisa:48)

The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination. (Ghafir : 3)
Ibn Katheer explained, "He forgives sins that have been committed in the past, and He accepts repentance for sins that may be committed in the future, from the one who repents and submits to Him."

Hadeeth

Narrated Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, in Saheeh Bukhari: I asked Allah's Apostle to teach me an invocation so that I may invoke Allah with it in my prayer. He told me to say, "Allahumma inni zhalumtu nafsi zhulman kathiran, Wala yaghfirudhdhunuba illa anta faghfirli maghfiratan min 'Indika, war-hamni innaka antal-Ghafururrahim (O Allah! I have done great injustice to myself and none except You forgives sins, so please forgive me and be Merciful to me as You are the Forgiver, the Merciful)."

Al Qareeb القريب The Most Near

Root ق ر ب Meaning to be near, approach, offer, be near in relationship
Allah is not near to His Slaves physically, but  by His knowledge. (Al Khattabi)
This name does not mean that Allah everywhere; rather He is above the
heavens.
But He is near us through His knowledge, hearing, and sight. In the general sense, it means that He knows what all the creation is doing; in the specific sense, it means that He answers the prayers of His servants.

Aayah:
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.(Baqarah 2: 186)The Prophet's Companions asked The Prophet whether Allah was Near to them , and should whisper to Him or if He was far away and should call upon Him loudly. Allah answered them and said that He is Near and Hears their invocations and calls,He also asked His slaves respond to Him by believing in Him , worshipping Him , obeying His Orders, Asking Him for guidance and asking for the best in this world and the Hereafter.
Hadith:
Abu 'Uthman related that Abu Musa said, "We were with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on a journey and whenever we went up, we say, 'Allah is greater.' The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'O people! Be kind to yourselves! You are not calling someone who is deaf or absent. He is with you, near and hearing.'(Bukhari)

Allah is Al QareebAbu Hurayrah (RA) narrated that Allah's Messenger(SAWS) said: Allah said: I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious Worshipper of Mine.
The Most Beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me are what I have enjoined upon him,and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing extra deeds (besides what is obligatory) until I love him.I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, his sense of sight with which he sees, his hand with which he grips, and his foot with which he walks.
If he asks Me ,I will give him , and if he asks My protection,I will protect him.
I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer , for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him.
(Bukhari)

Al Karim, AlAkram The  Bountiful , The Most Generous الكريم

Root ك ر م
Meaning  ::to be generous, giving, and beneficent, to be highly esteemed, honoured and valued.
This root appears 47 times in the Quran in eight derived forms.
Examples of these forms are Al-Akram (“The MostGenerous”), kareemun (“noble”), kiraaman (“dignified ones”), al-mukrameen (“the honoured ones”)  and al-ikraam (“and Honor ”).

Its among the Best Names of Allah through which He introduced Himself to us.
AzZajjai says, Al Karim means the Most Generous, the All Mighty and the Forgiving, and all these meanings are potential meanings of Al Karim
Al Khattabi says that the Generosity of Allah is manifest in the fact that He gives and grants before people even ask or are worthy of receiving. He grants things without expecting a reward for His Giving.
He forgives the sins of the sinner, and  His Forgiving is so honourable that He forgives and He replaces the sins of the sinner with good deeds- if he repents.

Al Ghazali says ,Al Karim means the One Who forgives when He is able to take revenge. He honors the promises and gives more than expected.
Ayaat
"O man! What has made you careless about your Lord, Al-Kareem (the Generous), Who created you, fashioned you perfectly and gave you due proportion? In whatever shape He willed, He put you together" [Infitar 82: 5-8]

Ar-Raqeeb— الرقيب The All Watcher,The All-Observer

Root ر ق ب

This Name is mentioned on three occasions in the Quran.

Raqeeb is the one who takes charge, which includes protecting, maintaining, and preserving.

Ar Raqeeb is the One whose Knowledge encompasses all His creatures, and nothing of them can be concealed from Him.

Ar-Raqeeb is the One Who sees what is hidden in the hearts and He is the One Who charges your soul for what it has earned. He is the All-and-Ever-Watchful, observing everyone’s actions, thoughts, and feelings.

Ar-Raqeeb is also The Controller--preserving and organising the affairs of creation with  Perfect Planning!

Ayaat

O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from them twain hath spread abroad a multitude of men and women. Be careful of your duty toward Allah in Whom you claim (your rights) of one another, and toward wombs (that bare you). Lo! Allah has been a watcher over you. (Surah Nisa 4:1)

A Story

We should  remember Ar-Raqeeb when we are tempted.

One day Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) found a shepherd and asked if the boy would sell him a sheep. The boy replied that it was not his.

`Umar ibn al-Khattab made him an offer to see how he would react, He said: “If your master asks you, tell him that the sheep was eaten by a wolf.”  He looked at him and said, “And what would I say to Him (i.e. Allah)?”

`Umar cried and said, “By Allah, you are right.  What would you say to Him?”

Whenever you feel tempted to something haraam or not doing something Allah wants from you think about ArRaqeeb watching you; would you dare to look up to the sky and say ‘no’ to Allah? A’udhubillah!

A beautiful example of belief in Ar-Raqeeb

Narrated `Abdullah ibn Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: When I was accompanying `Umar ibn al-Khattab on his patrol of Madinah at night, he felt tired, so he leant against a wall. It was the middle of the night, and (we heard) a woman say to her daughter, “O my daughter, get up and mix that milk with some water.”

The girl said, “O Mother, did you not hear the decree of Amir al-Mu’minin (chief of the believers) today?”

The mother said, “What was that?”
The girl said, “He ordered someone to announce in a loud voice that milk should not be mixed with water.”

The mother said, “Get up and mix the milk with water; you are in a place where `Umar cannot see you.”

The girl told her mother, “I cannot obey Him (Allah) in public and disobey him in private.” [Sifat al-Safwah and Wafiyat al-A'yan and cited by Ibn al-Jawzi in Ahkam al-Nisa']

This is an example of how we should understand and be aware of Ar-Raqeeb.

This girl was upright in her deeds, in public and private, because she believed that Allah was observing her at all times! The righteous leader ‘Umar Ibn Abdul-Azeez was a descendant from her.

Al-Muqeet: المقيت The Nourisher,The sustainer

Root ق و ت

Meaning  To supply, maintain, nourish, preserve,to witness, to oversee
Al-Muqeet sustains  bodies and the souls and sustains His creation. He gives us what we need to survive. This word is derived from the word 'qut' which means food.
Al Ghazali said ' Al Muqit is the Creator of Provisions and food the One Who brings these things to bodies and brings knowledge to hearts"
Al Qurtubi defines as 'Al Muqit is the One Who provides every human being and animal with food according to their needs at different times in order to achieve their survival. Allah continues to provide food until He decides to stop it from someone in order to let him perish.Ibn al-Qayyim said:‘He is the Helper of all His creatures, and He responds to those who are desperate.’[Sharh Asmaa' Allaah ta'aala al-Husna, by Dr. Hissah al-Sagheer, p. 246]

Surah Nisa:85(Whoever intercedes for a good cause will have a reward therefrom; and whoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a burden therefrom. And ever is Allah , over all things, a Keeper).

Al Latif :The Subtly Kind,The Most Kind and Courteous اللطيف

Root word  - ل ط ف
Meaning -to be delicate,subtle,graceful,elegant,soothing

It is mentioned 7 times in Qur’an
Al Latif  is one of the most beautiful names in terms of sound and meaning. Ears and hearts enjoy listening to this name.

Ibn Al Arabi says that this name means the One Who is kind in fulfilling your needs. That is why people say 'latafa Allah' -He helped you accomplish your needs kindly (Khattabi,p62 dua)

Al Ghazali says, 'This name must be given to the One Who Knows the subtle and mysterious things ;and conveys them to whoever deserves them kindly and graciously without any violence. The combinations of Kindness in word, grace and courtesy in action constitute the meaning of latif. (Muhammad bin Hamad,An Nahj Al Asna1/246)

Allah's Kindness can be seen in His creation, from the embryo being  in 3 kinds of darkness in the womb ,a safe and protective place to how the embryo is changed to a fetus to a healthy baby.

His kindness can be seen in the water we use ,the oxygen we breathe, the change of the seasons, ripening of fruits, the day flowing over into the night- to even the friend who apparently comforts us, because it is  Allah Al-Latif Who sends you such friends.

Ayaats in Quran

Allah is very Gracious and Kind to His slaves. He gives provisions to whom He wills. And He is the All –Strong, the All mighty.  ( surah Ash Shura 42:19)
Do you not see that Allah has sent down rain from the sky and the earth becomes green? Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted.(Al Hajj 22:63)
Other Ayats :An’am 6:103; Yusuf 12:100; Al Kahf 18:19 ; Luqman 31:16

This Name usually comes with al-Khabeer,
'Shouldn’t the One who created know (His creation)? And He is the Most Kind to His slaves (Al-Lateef), Well-Aware of everything (Al-Khabeer)' (67:14)
So Allah is Al-Lateef and Al-Khabeer: He knows the most minute details and at the same time, when He ordains for His slave, He decrees what is best for them even if the slave does not understand it

Dua:

O Allah, from the blessings that I love that You have given me, strengthen me to use those blessings for things that You love. and from the beloved things that You have taken from me, replace it with what You love.

[Tirmidhi  hasan (good). Although it does not mention Lutf or Al-Lateef explicitly, this du’aa encompasses the meanings of Al-Lateef]

AsSamee’   All Hearer  السميع

Root س م ع

Meaning :to hear,to listen

It refers to the attribute of hearing,of listening and paying attention to ;and to understand the meaning of something.

Examples of these forms:

Sami’a (to hear, to listen),

Tusmi’u (to make hear)

As-sam’a(the hearing)

The meaning of this Beautiful Name:

1- Ibn Jarir (Rahimahullaah) said: Means that Allah, the Most Praiseworthy, describes Himself with the Attribute of Hearing, that He is All-Hearing of all what His creation utters of statements.” [Jamie’ ul-Bayan]

2- Ibn Kathir (Rahimahullaah) said: “He is All-Hearing of all the statements of His slaves.” [Ibn Kathir 2/82]

3- Shaikh as-Sa’di (Rahimahullaah) said: “He is the One Who hears all sounds and voices, in all of their (the slaves) different languages and all their many and various needs.”

4- Al-Khattabi (Rahimahullaah) said that As-Samee’ (the All-Hearer) implies the Attribute of Sam’a (Hearing). He Who hears the secrets and the whispers, whether uttered openly or silently.

5- Ibn al-Qayyim (Rahimahullaah) said: “The action of hearing carries four meanings:

a) The hearing of the voices and sounds.

b) The understanding of the meaning.

c) The response and granting what one has asked for.

d) The acceptance and submission (without denying).

No Secrets for As-Samee’!

As-Samee’ hears every single sound, every rustle of the tree, every voice and every thought. Our most secret speech is open declaration before Allah.

As-Samee’ tells us: It is the same to Him whether one of you conceals his speech or declares it openly; whether he lies hidden by night or walks forth freely by day. [Quran, 13: 10]

Du'a

رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

“Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us. Verily! You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.”{2:127}

Al Baseer  The All Seeing

Root ب ص ر

Meaning :The attribute of seeing, Of Having insight, Of being aware and Of understanding and knowing.

Allah calls Himself Al-Baseer— The All-Seeing, The All-Perceiving, The All-Comprehending

Al-Baseer is the One Who has insight into all things and Who perceives every detail, every state of existence, and every circumstance. 🔬He is the One who understands all things, both outer and inner.

The whole creation is encompassed in His perfect sight!

Allah’s name Al-Baseer refers to perfection and the totality of Allah’s seeing, which cannot be compared with the seeing of any other created being.

How Al-Baseer Comforted the Prophets

1)When Allah ‘azza wajal sent Musa and Harun to confront the Pharaoh, Al-Baseer comforted them with the words: “Indeed, I am with you, hearing and seeing.” (Quran 20: 46).

2)In the same way Al-Baseer reassured the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and says: So wait patiently for your Lord’s decree, for surely you are in Our sight. [Quran, 52: 48]

3)Isn’t it the most comfortable and reassuring feeling for your heart knowing as a believer Your Lord is so close to you and sees and hears everything you go through?

Hadith

Abu Musa Al Asha'ari narrated the following incident ' We were with  the Prophet(SAWS) and whenever we went uphill, we used to say ' Allahu Akbar'. Then the Prophet(SAWS) said, 'Lower your voices. You are not calling a deaf or an absent one Verily you are calling the All Hearer, the All Seer and the Very Close' (Al Bukhari)

Why is the attribute of All Seeing and All Hearing so important, and  why has Allah repeated these attributes so many times?
Allah has ordered us to know of these attributes, and one who does not recognize this fact, does not fully know Allah
This is because the idols, peers, saints, Prophets don't have this attribute --ONLY ALLAH DOES....

العظيم : The Most Magnificent

Root  ع ظ م

Meaning:Great,important,mighty,magnify/increase

Allah is greater than everything. He is the Almighty, and none is even close to possessing such might. Everything is subject to Allah’s might and power. He has the attributes of glory, majesty and perfection, and nothing is like Him.

Allah has ordered us to glorify Him with His Name Al Azim , in Surah Al Waqiah:74

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great

When this verse was revealed the Prophet ordered his Companions to say it in their prayers during Ruku'.

Hadith

ProphetMuhammad(saws) used to glorify Allah with this name whenever he was in distress or in trouble.

It was narrated in Muslim that the Prophet used to invoke Allah in times of distress by saying, 'There is no god but Allah, the Most Great, the Most Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and the Lord of the Glorious Throne.

How do we Glorify Allah

We can do so by glorifying His Symbols and Sacred things.

Among the Symbols of Allah are AsSafa and AlMarwah, and glorifying them is by going between them when performing Hajj and Umrah

Surah Hajj:32

That [is so]. And whoever honors the symbols of Allah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts

Albudn(camels) are also among the Symbols of Allah and we come closer to Him when we sacrifice them during Eid and Hajj.

Glorifying also can be doneby abandoning whatever Allah made haram such as gambling, taking interest, drinking wine, etc.

Glorifying Qur'an is another way of glorying Him. We can glorify Qur'an by believing in it,learning and teaching it and applying its instructions in our daily lives.

Glorifying Allah implies glorifying and respecting Allah's Messenger . We respect  and glorify the Prophet by following his Sunnah, learning about him and praying to Allah to bestow His Blessings on him.

If we Glorify Allah, then we must not  liken Him to anything else because He has no equal and nothing is like HIm.

We don't need to deny His attributes thinking that this would make Him like His creatures. Believers know that Allah hears and sees but in a way that is different from that of His creatures.

Allah is a being that is different from that of any of His Creatures.

Glorifying Allah also means that we should deny that He has associates or equals because He is The Only One Who is Worthy to be worshipped and He is the Only Unique Lord.

VariousSupplications

There are many instances where Allah’s Attribute Al ‘Azheem us utilized throughout the day.

1.Ali radiAllahu anhu said that the Messenger of Allah said , “Whosoever after every prayer recites Ayatul Kursi, none shall prevent him from entering the Garden save death. (Tabarani)

2. ‘Ubaidah ibn Samit narrated the Prophet said, “If anyone wakes at night and then says: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone without partners. To Him belongs sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things wholly capable. How perfect Allah is, and all praise is for Allah, and none has the right to be worshipped except Allah. Allah is the greatest, and there is no power nor might except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great – and then supplicates – O my Lord, forgive me, they will be forgiven.” (Bukhari)

3. Jabir narrated that the Prophet said, “Whenever someone says, ‘How perfect Allah is, the Most Great, and I praise Him,’ a palm tree is planted for him in Paradise.” (Tirmidhi)

4. Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet said, “There are two expressions which are dear to the Gracious (Allah) and very light (easy) on the tongue (to say), but very heavy in weight in the balance. They are: SubhanAllah wa bi-hamdihi (How perfect Allah is, and I praise Him), and SubhanAllah al-‘Azheem (How perfect Allah is, the Most Great).” (Bukhari, Muslim)

5. Ibn ‘Abbas said that the Prophet used to say in times of difficulty, “There is none worthy of worship other than Allah, the Most Great, the Forbearing. There is none worthy of worship other than Allah, Lord of the Magnificient Throne. There is none worthy of worship other than Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Glorious Throne.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

Al KABEER—The Greatest , The Most Grand, The All-Great

 Root word:ك ب ر
Meaning: being great in rank, size, dignity, nobility and authority

Names with the same root: Al-Akbar (The Greatest)

Al-Mutakabbir (The Superior)
Allah calls Himself Al-Kabeer 6 times in the Quran

One who is kabeer is someone great in rank or skill. When applied to Allah (swt), it is implied that He’s Al-Kabeer—The All-Great and The Most Great; in each of His attributes He is the greatest.

Ayat

[They will be told], "That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah , the Most High, the Grand."[Surah Ghafir 40:12]

Al Kabir is always associated with the name Most High ' Al Aliyy' or 'Al Muta'ali

Allah is the Most Great to whose Greatness all creaures submit and to Whose Highness they prostrate

Whoever prides himself in greatness,Allah will break his greatness and whoever feels or behaves with arrogance and majesty, Allah will subdue him and degrade him.
AzZajjaji says tha Al Kabir means ' the Glorius and Majestic'. Often someone is the Kabir(the chief) of his tribe meaning he is the leader.
Allah has ordered us to glorify and magnify Him in words and hearts.
We proclaim Allah's Greatness with every Adhan. Allahu Akbar
When we perform prayer, the first thing we say is Allahu Akbar
It is also said when muslims slaughter animals for sacrifice.

Glorifying Allah by saying Allahu Akbar is a Symbol of Allah- It is a call (Allahu Akbar) that moves our hearts and holds them firm. Therefore the Islamic Ummah is often described as Takbir Ummah(the nation of Allah is the Greatest)

We should remember who Allah has promised the good of the Hereafter to: “We grant the Home in the Hereafter to those who do not seek superiority on earth or spread corruption: the happy ending is awarded to those who are mindful of Allah.” [Quran: Surah Al-Qasas, Ayat 83]

Al Haafidh: The Preserver,The Guardian

Root: ح ف ظ

Meaning: To guard, to protect

Other Name with same  Root: Al Hafeedh (The Guardian)

Appears thrice in the Qur'an

Allah  keeps records of each and every person as regards deeds, and then He will reward them accordingly.

Al-Hafeedh is a more intensive form of Al-Haafidh. It means the One who is ever-mindful and constantly on guard. He also preserves the heavens and the earth with His Power.

Angels are described as Hafadhah because they keep records of what people do and say.

Aayat

But if they turn away, [say], "I have already conveyed that with which I was sent to you. My Lord will give succession to a people other than you, and you will not harm Him at all. Indeed my Lord is, over all things, Guardian." (Surah Hud 11 : 57)

'And he had over them no authority except [it was decreed] that We might make evident who believes in the Hereafter from who is thereoff in doubt. And your Lord, over all things, is Guardian. (Surah Saba 34 : 21)Allah's Hifdh has three meanings:

1)Maintaining ,preserving and protecting things from vanishing and disappearing.

He maintains the heavens and the earth, without fatigue (Baqarah 2:255, Al Fatir 35:41)

He preserves His Book from becoming corrupted. (Surah AlHijr 15:9)

Allah also protects his slaves from destruction(Surah ArRa'd 13:11)

2)Recording and preserving the deeds of His slaves, and holding them accountable for them. (Surah Al Infitar 82:11-12)

3) Allah protects the people closest to HIm from straying and wrongdoing. He protects them from their enemies and grants them victory over them.

This is implied in the Prophetic saying, 'Fear Allah and He will protect you.'

Al Wahhab -- The Giver of Gifts

Root -- و  ه  ب Meaning --to give,bestow, to gift
(from same root word is Hiba--a Gift)

Allah, Al Wahhab bestows upon us limitless gifts , without us asking Him. And He doesnt expect anything from us.

Ayat:

They say : Our Lord! Let not our hearts deivate( from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower of Gifts. (Al-Imran:8)

Waw-haa-baa (و ه ب) occurs 25 times in the Quran, in two derived forms: 22 times as the verb wahaba (وَهَبَ), three times as the nominal wahhāb (وَهَّاب).

The Arabic word Al-Wahhaab has the structure of intensification and is the intense form of Al Wahib, the giver.

We are all Waahib, that is we give gifts once ,twice, a finite number of times,

But Al Wahhab provides infinitely.

This beautiful name illustrates the amazing way in which Allah ‘azza wajal bestows gifts on His creation. Al Wahhab gives without expecting anything in return, He gives it to us even if we don't deserve it.

Ibn Katheer explained that Allah is the Bestower who gives whatever He wills and to whomever He wills. Al Wahhab bestows mercy and success, and the Greatest Gift- The Gift of Islam

A prescription to increase Love among people:
Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Give each other gifts and you will love each other.” Al-Bukhari
Ar- Razzaq-- The Provider

Root - ر  ز  ق
Meaning: to provide, supply,bestow,grant.

 The word rizq means provision.

The Arabic word Ar-Razzaaq has the structure of intensification, (on the pattern of فعال)--He is The ALL Provider.

“Provision” is “something that you make use of”. Provision includes such things as wealth, knowledge, good manners, security, peace of mind, etc

Some scholars say, “Ar-Razzaq”  is One Who provides people physically, mentally and spiritually.Allah’s Messenger, (PBUH), says, “If the soul finds its provision, it feels secure.”

Ayaat

Allah says: “And so many a moving (living) creature carries not its own provision! Allah provides for it and for you. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.”(Al-Ankabut 29; 60)

Allah is the one who created you, then provided for you, then will cause you to die, and then will give you life (Ar-Rum 30; 40)

“And kill not your children for fear of poverty. We  provide for them as well as for you. Surely, the killing of them is a great sin.” (Al-Isra’ 17; 31)

And enjoin prayer upon your family [and people] and be steadfast therein. We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the [best] outcome is for [those of] righteousness.(Taha 20:132)

Indeed, it is Allah who is the [continual] Provider, the firm possessor of strength.(Adh-Dhāriyāt -51:58).

Some people ask: why is there poverty? Why are people starving? We have to understand that our actions have consequences. We have created a system that has gone against the way Allah  instructed us to live. These people’s tests may be hardship in this world, and our test might be our inability to help them;  we don’t know of the many ways of Ar-Razzaaq.

How do we increase Rizq???

Taqwa (God-conciosuness): “And whoever has taqwa of Allah – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect.” (Qur’an, 65:2-3)

Tawakul (reliance on God): “And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.” (Qur’an, 65:3)

Keeping good relations with family: The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘Whoever would like his rizq (provision) to be increased and his life to be extended, should uphold the ties of kinship.’ (Bukhari)

Thankfulness: “And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.’ ” (Qur’an, 14:7)

Asking forgiveness and tawba (repentance): “And said, ‘Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers. And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.” (Qur’an, 71:10-12)

Charity: “Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over?” (Qur’an, 2:245)

Reciting Qur’an: The Prophet ﷺ said: “The house in which Qur’an is recited is increased in good, and the house in which Qur’an is not recited is decreased in good.” (al-Bazzar)

Migrating for the sake of Allah: “And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many [alternative] locations and abundance.” (Qur’an, 4:100)

May Allah (swt) make us of those who know Him, who work hard for His sake, and who taste the paradise of contentment on earth.Ameen

Al Qahhar.  The Irresistible

 Root --ق  ه  ر
Meaning--Attribute of  overpowering something
To subdue, dominate,to compel against one’s wishes.

The Arabic word Al-Qahhaar has the structure of intensification, and is the intense form of Al-Qahir,The Irresistible.
Allah calls Himself Al-Qahhaar— The Subduer, The Ever-Dominating. All creatures surrender to Al-Qahhaar, Who submits and dominates the whole universe. This is a name of majestic strength!

The meaning of these two mighty Names:

Ibn Jarir (Rahimahullaah) said: Al-Qahir is the Supreme over His slaves, the Exalted over them. Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) mentioned the statement “over His slaves” because He attributed Himself of Subduing them; and the attribute of every subduer is to be High and Supreme over them. [Jamie’ Al-Bayan]

Ibn Katheer (Rahimahullaah) said: “He is Al-Qahir over His slaves i.e. the One who has subdued everything, and all the tyrants and arrogant have humbled themselves to Him. All faces shall be humbled before His Mighty and Grandeur. [Tafseer Ibn Katheer]

Al-Khattabi (Rahimahullaah) said: “Al-Qahhaar is the One Who subdued the tyrants among His creation by punishment and subdued all His creation by death.” [Sha’n ad-Du’aa]

Shaikh As-Sa’di (Rahimahullaah) said: “Al-Qahhaar is the One Who subdued every thing. The one before whom the whole creation has humbled itself, and submitted before His Grandeur, power, and perfect Strength.”
Allah ‘azza wajal is telling us that everything that is created submits to Allah willingly or unwillingly— that’s the power and force of Al-Qahhaar. And this supreme power rests with Him only.

Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) also subdued His creation with sicknesses, calamities and afflictions which they cannot drive back from themselves.

Ayaat

It will be on the Day the earth will be replaced by another earth, and the heavens as well, and they (all creatures) will come out before Allah, the One, the Prevailing.(Surah Ibrahim )14:48

Al Haleem The Most Forbearing

Root  ح  ل  م

Meaning : To be forbearing, lenient, forgiving and gentle

Allah is Al Haleem. His anger doesn’t overwhelm Him,He doesn't punish us instantly,He continues to bestow His mercy and blessings even though we disobey. He gives us a chance to seek forgiveness.

Ayah: At Taghabun 64:17

"If you loan Allah a goodly loan, He will multiply it for you and forgive you. And Allah is MostAppreciative and Forbearing"

Ibn al-Qayyim said in al-Nooniyyah (3278):“He is the Forbearing and does not hasten the punishment for His slave, (granting him respite) so that he may repent from his sin.”

Al-Sa’di said in his Tafseer (19): “Al-Haleem is the One Who keeps bestowing blessings, both visible and hidden, on His creation, even though they disobey Him and make many mistakes. So He forgives and does not give the sinners the punishment they deserve; He encourages them to repent and gives them time to turn to Him.”.

Ibn Jareer said in his Tafseer (4/144): “This means that He gives respite and does not hasten to punish the one who disobeys Him or goes against His command.”

Al-Khattaabi Says in Sha'n ad-Du'a, p 63: "Al-Haleem is the One Who Forgives and Pardons; the One Who does not get provoked by anyone's anger, ignorance, or disobedience." He added to it:"The forgiver cannot be considered forbearing unless He is capable and powerful. Al-Haleem is the Forgiver while being Capable and Powerful."

Allah combines with attribute of forbearing with the attributes of forgiving , richness and knowing (Surah Baqarah:225 ;263 AnNisa:12)

Allah is Most Rich, He doesn't need to forgive anyone, but He does.  Allah is not unaware of our wrongdoings, He knows everything ,yet He forgives us.. WHY

Because Allah LOVES us.

If Allah can be forgiving , how about us? Who are we to not forgive or have patience with people?

ProphetMuhammad(SAWS) told one of the Sahabas, ' You have two attributes that Allah loves, forbearance and patience'

Forbearance is a quality of righteous people. The forbearing person is loved and respected by Allah as well as people. The forbearing person forgives whoever offends him, does not disclose their faults, maintains friendship, keeps his promises.

Our Prophet(SAWS) was the best example of forbearance. His people offended him, accused him of  magic, madness, etc. They threw stones at him. Yet He made Dua to Allah to guide them. SubhanAllah And when he (SAWS) had control over them later, he told them 'I let you free'

Dua
“La ilaaha ill-Allah al-‘Azeem ul-Haleem, Laa ilaaha ill-Allah Rabb il-‘arsh il-‘azeem, Laa ilaaha ill-Allah Rabb is-samawaati wa Rabb il-ard wa Rabb il-‘arsh il-kareem (there is no god except Allah, the All-Mighty, the Forbearing; there is no god except Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne; there is no god except Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth and Lord of the noble Throne).”

Ash Shakir, AshakurThe most Grateful
The Most Appreciative الشكور

Root : ش ك ر

Meaning :to give thanks, to be grateful

Shukr means to increase, appreciate, and recognize good.

Shakoor in Arabic is also used to describe an animal that’s fed with little but gives back much in return. The shadda (in Ash-Shakoor)shows that Allah is exceedingly appreciative; His appreciation and rewards are beyond what we can ever expect.

Allah is appreciative of every good thing we do, no matter how small, even if it is giving a date to your brother!

A date! What value is a date in our eyes, but SubhanaAllah ,Allah appreciates that act of giving a date, and increases it in reward, the size of  a mountain.

Allah appreciates all the deeds and sayings of those who sincerely worship Him and Only Him.
Allah’s name Ash-Shakoor does not mean He has to be thankful for anything, because everything we have comes from Him! It means He is the One Who is The Most Thankful; as He gratefully gives large rewards for all acts of righteousness, thankfulness and praise— even for a small amount of good work.

Ayat:

لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ إِنَّهُ غَفُورُ شَكُورُ

“That He may pay them their wages in full, and give them (even) more, out of His Grace. Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (good deeds).” (Fatir 35:30)Allah gives countless blessings to us and only asks each of us to be a grateful servant.
Surah Ibrahim 14:7: " ...And when your Lord announced: 'If you are grateful, I will certainly give you increase; but if you are ungrateful, My punishment is severe.'"Among the deeds for which Allah is All Appreciative are : reciting the Qur'an, performing prayers, giving charity, publicly or privately. Surah Fatir 35:29-30

Allah has informed us that whoever lends Allah something good(gives charity), will have it doubled and his sins forgiven by Allah Surah Taghabun 64 :17

AHadtih:

The Prophet (SAWS) told Abu Dharr (RA):- “Do not consider even the smallest good deed as insignificant; even meeting your brother with a cheerful face (is a good deed).”[Muslim]

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “Protect yourself from Hellfire even with half a date, and if you did not find any, then (you can do it through saying) a good or pleasant word (to your Muslim brother).”[Al-Bukhari]

Allah's Apostle (SAW) said, "While a man was walking he felt thirsty and went down a well and drank water from it. On coming out of it, he saw a dog panting and eating mud because of excessive thirst. The man said, 'This (dog) is suffering from the same problem as that of mine. So he (went down the well), filled his shoe with water, caught hold of it with his teeth and climbed up and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for his (good) deed and forgave him." The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle (SAW)! Is there a reward for us in serving (the) animals?" He replied, "Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate (living being)." Al Bukhari:557(also mentioned in Muslim)

Allah's Apostle (SAW) said, "While a man was on the way, he found a thorny branch of a tree there on the way and removed it. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him." Al Bukhari:662

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (the blessing and peace of Allah be upon him) said: «While a dog was going around a well and was about to die of thirst,a prostitute saw it and took off her shoe and watered it. So Allah forgave her because of that good deed».Al Bukhari 3467

Being Grateful to Allah

“And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.’” (14: 1-7)

Allah SWT is saying if we could be grateful once in our life He would ABSOLUTELY increase us continuously increase us and keep on increasing us.The strongest language possible is used. SubhnAllah.

Increase you in what? Allah did not limit what He will increase us in. That’s the beauty of this ayah. The motivation to be grateful in this ayah, is I will keep giving you more, and more, and more of everything. We  think of it and He will give it to us, if it’s beneficial .

How should we be grateful?

By talking and mentioning Allah’s favour's upon

To always look for the good in the situations that occur in our life. We cant  change whats happened but what we can change is our perception of whats happened.

Just like we love our children, we need to know that Allah SWT loves us seventy times more  than we  love them. He would never give us bad Qadr.We have to stop thinking that this is possible.

What is Allah going to get out of punishing us? Its typical of us to think the worst of everything. We have to think the best of Allah.

We need to be a people who are in conscious praise of Allah.

Saad Ibn abi Waqas (RA) said to his son if you ask for wealth  then ask for contentment to accompany it. If contentment does not accompany it,then  no money will satisfy you.

 Al-Fattaah— The Opener, The Judge

Root -- ف ت ح

Meanings --To Open and To Judge/Decide

The word fath means opening and al-faatih is someone who opens.

The Arabic word Al-Fattaah has the structure of intensification.

The name of first chapter of the Qur'ân, al-Fâtiha, is based on this same root, and is translated as The Opener, or The Opening.

Al Fattah is the Opener of hearts that are locked, the Remover of difficulty, The Opener and Giver of Knowledge.

This beautiful name illustrates the  fact that Al-Fattaah is the One Who opens all of the gates  and all doors to all that is good and that no one but Him can open.

He is the One who opens what is closed and softens that which was hardened.

Al Khattabi said,' Al Fattah is the One who opens the closed doors of provision and of mercy to His slaves, He opens the closed doors  to them,He opens their hearts and eyes to see the truth' Al-Fattaah is the One who judges between His slaves with His legislation and by rewarding those who obey Him and punishing those who disobey Him in the dunya and aakhirah--He is the most Trustworthy Judge."Our Lord will bring us all together, then He will judge between us with truth.

He is the All-knowing Judge" (Saba 34: 26)

An incident:

Three men once retreated to a cave, when suddenly  the cave got blocked by a big rock ,a result of heavy rain. The men made du'a to Allah to rescue them through the good deeds they had done in the past. Allah responded to them and removed the rock from the mouth of the cave with His Power and Mercy. This shows how Al Fattah opened up their ways and judged between them

Duaa
Our Lord, judge between ourselves and our nation with justice and Thou art the Best of judges.

Al ‘Alim : The All Knower

Root : ع  ل  م

Meaning : To know; To be aware, informed

Names with Root :

 Al ‘Aleem(The Knowing)

 Al ‘Alim (The Knower)

Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of the Unseen of the heavens and the earth. Verily! He is the All-Knower of that is in the breasts. (Fatir : 38)

"(He Alone is) the All-Knower of the Ghaib (Unseen), and He reveals to none His Ghaib (Unseen)." (AlJinn: 26)

This Name of Allah indicates Knowledge, a knowledge that encompasses everything- infinite knowledge -- a Knowledge which cannot be compared with our knowledge.

Ibn Katheer says: Allah tells us that He knows the unseen in the heavens and earth, and that He knows all that is hidden and in the secrets of the hearts. Allah knows everything whether we do it in secret or in public, night or day.

Al Khaliq created us, therefore He knows us better than ourselves.Allah is Aware of every sinlge momvemnt on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf falls down, nor a seed thrown away , but that ALLAH KNOWS.

Hadeeth

`Abdullah bin `Umar said that the Messenger of Allah said, “The Keys of the Ghayb (unseen knowledge) are five, nobody knows them but Allah. Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow except Allah; nobody knows what is in the womb except Allah; nobody knows when it will rain except Allah; no soul knows at what place he will die except Allah;

and nobody knows when the (Final) Hour will begin except Allah.” (Bukhari)

Supplication

It is narrated that Abu Bakr said to the Prophet salAllahu alayhi wa sallam:“O, messenger of Allah, teach me a du'a (supplication) with which I can ask Allah in the morning and the evening." The Prophet said: Say: ‘O, Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the visible, Lord of everything and its sovereign, I bear

witness that there is no deity other than You. I seek refuge in You from the evil within myself, from the evil of the shaitaan and his associationism, and from anything which would bring evil to me or to any other Muslim.’” (Sunan Aboo Dawood, and Tirmidhi)

Al Waliyy Al Mawla
 The Protector ,The Supporter

Root و ل ي

Meaning: to be close, near

Allah (swt) calls Himself with these Beautiful Names in order to assure the believer that He is there for them as a Protector and a Supporter(an assurance a believer needs all the time.)

Allah guides and protects the believers from harm.Ibn Al-Atheer said: “ The Helper and the Supporter and the One Who manages the affairs of His Creatures. Management of affairs implies ability and action without which management cannot be achieved. The one who runs the affairs of others without capability is not a Waliyy, “Supporter”.

Allah Runs the Affairs of both believers and disbelievers- But we cannot say that Allah is the Waliyy [The Supporter and Protector] of disbelievers and wrong doers, because they denied Allah’s Goodness and Bounties and associated partners with Him.

Believers thank and praise Allah for His Protecion and Support. They obey and believe in His Oneness

The Believers MUST take Allah as their Waliyy

He is Ar-Raziq the One who Provides Everything

He is As-Samee’ He Hears everything what we ask

He is Al-Mujeeb He Responds to our Calls

He Is Al-Muhaymin is the One Who all affairs and Sustains them

Do then, we need anyone other than Allah (swt)

The Prophet (SAWS) used to say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge with You from incapacity, laziness, miserliness, senility and the punishment of the grave. O Allah, give my soul Godfearing and purify it. You are the best of those who purify. You are its Master and Guardian. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from knowledge which does not bring benefit and from a heart which is not fearful and from a self which is not content and from a supplication which is not answered.'"

Allaahumma innee a‛oodhu bika mi-nal-‛ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubn wal-bukhl, wal haram wa ‛adhaabil-qabrAllaahumma aati nafsee taq-waaha wa zak-kiha anta khairu man zak-kaaha anta wali-yuha wa maw-laaha

Allah Al Waliyy

“Allah is the ally [Wali] of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into the light…” (Baqarah, 2:257)

Whenever we think of someone being a wali of Allah, we think of great devoted scholars, courageous fighters, people truly close to Allah… but not us. “We could never be His awliya… could we?”

Allah tells us in this verse that He is the Wali of those who believe. As believers, we are already part of that group, insha’Allah.

... But to truly earn the status of Allah’s Wali, to be at that elevated level, we have to aspire towards it

Al-Wali has different translations; the ‘ally’, ‘protector’, ‘guardian’ or ‘patron’. In Arab countries, schools usually request the permission of “wali amr” (the Wali of the affairs) of a child for anything concerning him or her, meaning the child’s guardian.

If Allah is our Wali, then HE is close to us and takes care of us.

There are going to be problems even if we are a Wali of Allah, but at the end of the day, He is still taking care of us.

Truly, it is an impoverished person who does not have Allah as their Wali, the person who takes his Wali as the dunya

What happens if we are a Waliyy of Allah?

1. We have no fear in this dunya, no sadness in akhirah.

“Unquestionably, [for] the awliya of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve”. (Yunus, 10:62)

2. He will put light in our life.

“Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into the light.” (Baqarah, 2:257)

3. Allah will give us victory

Allah says in a hadith qudsi: “Whoever takes a Waliyy of Mine as an enemy, I will wage war on him…” (Bukhari)

Would’nt we want to be one of these people?

So how can I be a Waliyy?

By Believing in Allah .

By having Taqwa of Allah we reach different levels of being waliyy of Allah.

“Unquestionably, [for] the awliya of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and had taqwa of Allah” (Yunus, 10:62)

So how do we get Taqwa?

Some scholars have defined taqwa as when Allah finds us where He has ordered us to be, and does not find us where He has forbidden.

The name al-Qayyoum means the One Who is established on His Own, Self-subsisting, by Whom all things subsist.Al Qayyum is Eternal and Everlasting. It means the One Who sustains and protects all that exists.

Al-Qayyoom comes always in combination with the beautiful name Al-Hayy in the Quran. They give the meaning of perfection.

Al Qayyum indicates eternity and immortality. It also means that He Exists by Himself. He is Able to stand by Himself and support and protect all that exists. This sustenance and protection is eternal and everlasting.

Allah is Eternal, Immortal and Ever existing. All perfection belongs to Him.

ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡحَىُّ ٱلۡقَيُّومُ‌ۚ

Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal.  [Surah Baqarah 2:255]

Abu Huraira narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Everything has its splendor, and the splendor of the Qur’an is Surah al-Baqara. In it is a verse which is the greatest verse of the Qur’an: Ayat al-Kursi.” [Tirmidhi]

The Ayah tells us that Allah is One, Living, Self-sustaining, the King of kings, the Owner of the universe, supreme in dominion, and might, and absolutely exalted, beyond comparison.

The Beautiful Concept of Qiyaam

Al-Qayyoom is among the greatest of the names of Allah ‘azza wajal and its origin is the word al-qiyaam.

From this root a few of the most important concepts of Islam evolve.

The iqaamah, is the call just before the obligatory prayer is established.

In our prayer we recite the Quran in the standing position (qiyaam); we do not recite Quran in the sitting position, nor during our ruku(bowing), nor during our prostration.

Great importance has the night prayer for the believer, which is referred to as qiyaam ul layl.

True believers are adorned with istaqaamah (to remain firm) on the straight path of Islam (siraatul mustaqeem) and ultimately we will all be brought in front of Al-Qayyoom on the Day of Standing, Yawm ul Qiyaamah.

The Perfect Life
These two names "The Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists" --Al Hayy Al Qayyum--are among the greatest of Allah's beautiful names.
Upon them, the rest of His names are based and around them all their meanings revolve.
Allah’s being Alive requires all attributes of perfection, because any lacking of an attribute of perfection originates from the weakness of life.
Therefore, if Allah has perfect life, He necessarily has all perfection.
Al Hayy and Al Qayyum are mentioned together in 3 chapters of the Qur'an.
They are among the Most glorious names of Allah to the extent that they were described as the Most Glorious Names of Allah. They contain all the meanings of perfection.
Al-Hayy is most often combined with the Name Al-Qayyoom, the Sustainer.
This is a beautiful combination of the perfection of Allah’s Attributes and His Actions.
Al-Hayy means the One who possesses the perfect living and so all His attributes are perfect: His hearing, His sight, His Beauty etc.
Man’s life is imperfect from all sides: our hearing, sight, speech and actions are all imperfect.
All the attributes of Allah are perfect, because any defiency in attributes would come from weakness of life and His life is perfect!

With Al-Hayy referring to the attribute of everlasting life and Al-Qayyoom signifying the attribute of self-existing life.

Al-Qayyoom Himself says: . . . Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence [Baqarah,2:255]

And [all] faces will be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. And he will have failed who carries injustice [Taha, 20:111]

Hadith

Abu  Muhammad  Ka`b  bin `Ujrah (RA) reported: The Prophet (SAWS) came to us and we asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, we already know how to greet you (i.e., say As-salamu `alaikum), but how should we supplicate for you?'' He (SAWS) said, "Say: `Allahumma salli `ala Muhammadin, wa `ala `ali Muhammadin, kama sallaita `ala `ali Ibrahima, innaka Hamidum Majid. Allahumma barik `ala Muhammadin, wa `ala `ali Muhammadin, kama barakta `ala `ali Ibrahima, innaka Hamidum Majid [O Allah, exalt the mention of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as you exalted the family of Ibrahim. You are Praised and Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed the family of Ibrahim. You are Praised and Glorious.'''

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Al-Wadood: The Most Loving

Root     و د د

Meaning

To love, to be affectionate

To long, wish or desire for.

The concept of love in Arabic language is decribed by different words, for example hubb and wudd .

Hubb is the inner-feeling of love for someone whereas Wudd is an intense, consistent affection and shown in actions and conduct.

Wadood is from the fa’ool pattern which points to intensity and continuity.

Allah is Al-Wadood; His love is intense, continuous and translates into the blessings, favours, mercy, guidance and forgiveness He gives to His slaves.

Az-Zajjaji: Al-Wadood means that Allah Loves His slaves who believe in Him and cares for them.” [Ishtiwaaq Asmaa Allah, p.262]

Al-Wadood also means The One who comes closer to His slaves through His Best Names that indicates His Majesty and Glory.

Allah Sent Prophets and revealed Books in order to help His slaves know their Lord.

Allah (swt) Honored the children of Adam and made them better than many of His creatures. He created them in best stature and granted them Sight, hearing and hearts.Ayat

“And ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate.“ { Hud 11:90}

Hadith :Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Prophet (SAWS) said, "When Allah loves a slave,He calls out to Jibril:`I love so-and-so; so love him'. Then Jibril loves him.

After that he (Jibril) announces to angels in heavens that Allah loves so-and-so; so love him; and the angels in the heavens also love him and then make people on earth love him". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Following the footsteps of the Prophet (SAWS) will by default earn the Love of Allah (swt)

"Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic monotheism, follow the Qur'an and the Sunna), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."  (Ale Imran 3:31)

How Do We Gain the Love of Allah?

The Prophet (SAWS) said: … And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing voluntary acts of worship until I love him.

(((Most beloved to Al-Wadood are our obligatory acts of worship, then by doing  voluntary acts of worship we come closer and closer to Him.)))

The Prophet(SAWS) continued : …(so much so that) I become his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me something, I will surely give him, and if he seeks My Protection (refuge), I will surely protect him. [Al-Bukharee]

Al-Wadood then becomes our special Helper, protecting our limbs and organs by not letting them work for anything He dislikes and :

Al-Wadood will grant our wishes and keep us safe.

Al-Fatir.

Al-Fatir means --Creator
Root Word - ف ط ر

Meaning : To cleave/split/crack-- also to create out of nothing.
From the same root is Fitrah, the natural dispostion of knowing Allah and accepting Islam as truth.
Occurs 6 times in Qur'an and always with the word skies and the earth.

All praises and thanks be to Allah, the only originator/Creator of the heavens and the earth, who made the angels as messengers with wings , two or three or four . He increases in creation what He wills. Verily , Allah is Able to do all things (Fatir:1)

He said : "Nay ,your Lord is The Lord of the Heavens and Earth, Who created them and to that I am one of the witnesses.(Al Anbiya:56)
So set you (O Muhammad(saw)your face towards the religion Hanif ( worship none but Allah Alone) .Allah's Fitrah(I.e.Allah's Islamic Monotheissm) with which He has created mankind . No change let there be in khalq-illah ( I.e  .the religion of Allh Islamic Monotheism):that is the straight religion , but most of men know not. ( Tafsir  At -Tabani)( Surah Rum:30)

Nearly the heavens might be rent asunder from above them ( by His Majesty):and the angels glorify the praises of their Lord, and ask for forgiveness for those on the earth .Verily , Allah is the Oft - Forgiving, the Most Merciful . ( Fussilat:5
He Who created the seven heavens in layers. You will not find any flaw in the creation of the All-Merciful. Look again—do you see any gaps? Then look again and again. Your sight will return to you dazzled and exhausted! (Surat al-Mulk, 67:3-4)

Du'a

“O My Lord, You have granted power to me on Earth and taught me the true meaning of events. O Originator of the heavens and Earth, You are my Friend in this world and the next. So take me as a Muslim at my death, and join me to the people who are righteous.” (Surah Yusuf, 12:101)

Al-Musawwir : The Bestower of Forms

Root: ص و ر

Meanings: to make something incline, lean or bend, and to form, fashion, sculpt, imagine, or picture something, or to have an inclination or desire towards something.

When He wills a thing, He merely says to it, Be! and it is, with the attributes that He wills and the form that He has chosen for it. He does what He wills and creates what He wills in the form that He wills. Al-Musawwir has perfected everything around you .
‘’It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.’’ [Surah Ali-Imran : 6]

Hadith:

Narrated Abu Zur'a:l entered a house in Medina with Abu Huraira, and he saw a man making pictures at the top of the house. Abu Huraira said, "I heard Allah's Apostle saying that Allah said, 'Who would be more unjust than the one who tries to create the like of My creatures? Let them create a grain: let them create a gnat.'
[Bukhari]

Du'aa of Sajdat e'Tilawat:

"Sajada wajheha lil ladhi khalaqahu, wa shaQa sam ahu, wa basarahu, be howleehee wa quwatehee fatabarakallahu ahsanal Khaliqeen “

Translation:
“My face is in prostration (sajdah) of that Pure entity that created it, made ears and placed eyes in it, it is all from His tawfeeq and power, Allah is Pure and the Best Creator”
Abu Dawud, Tirmizi, Nisai]

The Relation of Al-Khaaliq, Al-Baari', and Al-Musawwir

In Surah al-Hashr, Al-Musawwir' is mentioned after al-Khaaliq (The Creator, The Maker) and al-Baari' (The Originator).

Some scholars have said that in this ayah the attribute of creation refers specifically to Allah's Will of what He  wants to create, so it comes first.

The name Al-Bāarī' refers to the creative act of bringing about what Allah wills to create.

Finally, the name Al-Musawwir (the Fashioner) refers to giving each created thing its

Particular form.

▫So Allah decrees what He creates, brings it into existence, and specifies its particular, unique form.

Scholars also have mentioned that Al-Khaaliq is a general word, Al-Baari' is more specific, and Al-Musawwir is even more specific.

Al Bari -- The Originator, The Inventor

Root Word:Scholars differ about the root word.
Some say it is baria, which means to be free from or distant from something. Others say it is bareea, which means creation.
But we take it to mean that Allah is the Creator, the one who gives the creatures distinct characteristics which distinguishes them from each other.
He created something out of nothing, and brought them into existence.

Al Bari' indicates the creation of animals and it is rarely used with other creatures (Jami'al Usul 4/177)

Surah Hashr :24
He is Allah, Al-Khaliq, Al-Bari, Al-Musawwir
Al-Khaliq refers to measuring and proportioning, Al-Bari refers to inventing and bringing into existence what He has created and measured.
Surely, none except Allah is able to measure, bring forth and create whatever He wills to come to existence.
Allah's statement,Al-Khaliq, Al-Bari, Al-Musawwir means, if Allah wills something, He merely says to it "be'' and it comes to existence in the form that He wills and the shape He chooses,

To Al-Bari’ belongs all knowledge of His Creation. If He says there’s a cure in a certain thing but scientists haven’t found that cure, does that mean there is no cure? All it proves is that they haven’t found it!

Al-Khaaliq. الْخَالِقُ

Root::Kha Laam Qaaf {خ ل ق}

Meaning:creating , to measure or propotion a thing ,to form or make according to proper measure, originate or produce after a pattern which one has devised,to create out of nothing.

Al-Khaaliq is The One Who created all that is in existence, Who made everything correct and in its place in accordance to His Wisdom, Who Shaped it also in accordance to  His Wisdom. And He is continuously doing so.

Occurs 261 times in the Quran, in eight forms:

هُوَ اللَّهُ الْخَالِقُ الْبَارِئُ الْمُصَوِّرُ
"He is Allah, the Creator, the Originator, the Bestower of forms. (59:24)

Allah has used a number of names for Himself to highlight the meaning of creation such as : Al Khaliq(The Creator), Al Baree' (The Inventor of all things), Al Khallaq( The Creator of All) ,Al Fatir (The Maker)

The Word Al-Khallaaq is the hyperbolic from of "Khaaliq" and it indicates Tremendous Creation.
twice mentined in the Quran

"Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator." {15:86}
"Yes, indeed! He is the All-Knowing Supreme Creator." {36:81}
His creations
Creation of Adam 7:11/ 38:71-83
Creation of Human being  39:6 / 4:1/ 2:21/6:2/7:11/16:4/
Creation of the heavens and earth and whatever in-between 10:3&6/ 14:32/15:85/

Supplication
رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَٰذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّار
"Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted are You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.
{3:91}

Refutation against shirk
Surah Ibrahim:19-20
Have you not seen that Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth? If He  wills,
can do away with you and produce a new creation. And that is not difficult for Allah.

Surah AtTur :35-36
Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators(of themselves)

Or did they create the heavens and the earth?Rather they are not certain.

Al Hadi: The Guide
Root  ه د ي

Meaning
  • to guide and lead to the right path
  • to guide on the right path until reaching the goal

Allah is the One Who guides people to the straight path. Allah guides those who believe in His Book and follow His messenger.

Allah is the source of all guidance.

“Al Hadi is the One Who guide His creatures to know Him and come closer to Him

through doing good “ (Ishtiqaq Asma Allah)

Guidance is of 2 Types

1) Al Hidaya means showing people the right path.( Fussilat 41: 17)
Qutadah:“Allah has shown the path of guidance and wrongdoing, but they preferred
the blindness to the guidance .”
This is the guidance of the Prophet's of Allah as they guide people to Allah .

2) The Hidaya is exclusive to Allah and No one gives this kind of guidance even
to His Messenger. Al-Qasas 28: 56

The Name Al-Hadi is mentioned twice in the Quran:

Surah Hajj, :54,  Surah Furqan, :31

Dua:Asking Allah for Guidance

Al-Fathiha 1,  6-7

Guide us to the Straight Way.The Way of those upon whom you have bestowed your

blessings,  not of those who have been condemned [by Thee], nor of those who go astray.

Al-i'Imran3: 8

They say: "Our Rabb, Do not cause our hearts to deviate now after you have guided us.

Grant us Your own mercy; You are the Grantor of bounties without measure

Hadith

'Aisha (RA):The Prophet (saw)used to ask Allah (swt) for Guidance at the begeining

of each night prayer saying “O’Allah !The Lord of Jibra’il ,Mika’il and Israfil ,the

Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, the Knower of the unseen and seen :You

judge among Your slaves in whatever they dispute about.Guide me,by Your

Leave to the truth which has been disputed. You guide whom You will to the

Straight Way .”( Muslim)

Ali ibn Abu Talib narrated in a different way .He said ,”The Prophet (SAWS) used to say at the beginning of his night prayers:”And

guide me to best manners: no one guides to such manners save You. And

protect me from bad manners: no one but You can keep them away from me

The Prophet (SAWS)aSked Ali ibn abi talib to say :

“O Allah Guide me and direct me to do good .”(Muslim 2725).

In the Qunut Supplication,  :O Allah !make me among the

oneS whom You guide ;and make me among those whom You forgave (Tirmidhi)

Allah can guide us through different means, sometimes it could be people who urge us to do good and show us the Right way, who inspires you to be a better person
It could be different situations that make us realise that we are one day going back to our Khaliq, and we should turn to Him and become better muslims.
Nowadays we are expoed to so many different types of people with different views, especially in religion. Which one should we follow. We should make du'a to Allah Al Hadi to show us the Right Way.

Ihdina asSiratul Mustaqeem

Allah is our One and Only guide and only through His guidance will we be led on the Right Path.

O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the evident , Maker of the heavens and the earth , Lord of everything and its Possessor , I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but You . I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the evil of Satan and his helpers . (I seek refuge in You) from bringing evil upon my soul and from harming any Muslim. Aayah“He is Allah beside Whom La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah! (High is He) above all that they associate as partners with Him.”

[Al Hashr 59 : 23]Allah is the Only One worthy of being Superior. He is greater than anything:

“...the One who is proud, and for Allah this is not a negative trait, as it is for His creation; Allah Almighty said, “Pride is My cloak, and Glory is my wrap, so for he who competes with Me in either of these, I will cast him into the fire...” (Narrated by Abu Hurayrah and reported in Ahmed, Abu Dawood, and Ibn Majah). Al Qurtubi reports that others have understood this name to mean the Grand, Great One. Hadith

The Prophet(SAWS) said "He who has in his heart an atoms weight of pride will not enter paradise" A man then asked, " what if one likes to dress well?" The Prophet replied," Truly Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty. Pride is to deny the truth and despise people"(Muslim)

Extra notes

Kabeer Comes from the root kaaf-baa-raa, which points to the attribute of greatness (kibriyyah). This root includes the meanings of being great in rank, size, dignity, nobility, learning, and authority.

Al Kabeer - one who is greater than anything and everything. It is not in the matter of size, rather in the greatness. As in 'Allahu Akbar'.

Al Mutakabbir - One who is proud, one who is greater than all evil, imperfections, and any fault. One too proud to oppress His servants, and One proud of His dominion.

'Mu' means 'one who is...' as in Muhsina (one who is good), Muslimah (one who submits )

So, in this context, Mutakabbir means One who is Proud (of His Dominion), One who is far superior than anything.

Al-Mutakabbir, which is an empathic form referring to the active use of rights, privileges, rank, and attributes that are above and beyond the rights of everyone else.

One who is kabeer is someone great in rank or skill. When applied to Allah (swt), it’s implied that He’s Al-Kabeer—The All-Great and The Most Great; for each of His attributes He is the greatest.

Mutakabbir is divinely when compared to kabeer. The former has more emphasis than the latter.

Al-Jabbar

Jabbaar is from the root jabr (ج ب ر or جبر), and this root has several meanings:

1-The One Who Compels

2-The One Who Is Great

3-The One Who Reforms

4-Tall , strong and great.

Meaning of the Name

The Compeller to Whom all Creatures Surrender.{36:82/3:83}

The Highest and The Most Supreme Over His Creatures

The One who Reforms.

The One Who Shows His slaves the Path to Faith and the Path to Disbelief. {18:29/91:7-10}

Mentioning in the Quran:

"He is Allah , other than whom there is no deity, The Sovereign, The Pure, The Perfect, The Bestower of Faith, The Overseer, The Exalted in Might, The Compeller, The Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him." [Surah Hashr: 23]

According to al Khattaabi, it means: “He is the One who forces His creation upon what He commands and upon what He has forbidden.

Secondly it also means the One who is Exalted and High above His creation. The Supreme Power and Authority belongs to Him Alone. However, because Allah is Al-Jabbaar, it does not mean we become jabbaar. Why? Because He has told us to not be jabbaar and He does not like those who are arrogant.

‘Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant.” (Qur’an, 40:35)

Thirdly, the One who Reforms, the One who fixes the situation for His creation. It means if a slave is unable to reach His goal, Al-Jabbaar will enable Him and provide Him with the sources to reach this goal.

Hadith related to pride

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, said, 'Might is My wrapper, and pride is My cloak and I will punish any one who contends with me [for them]." [Muslim]

(‘How perfect He is, The Possessor of total power, sovereignty, magnificence and grandeur.’)

 The Prophet Abraham (a.s) said:

"ربنا لا تجعلنا فتنة للذين كفروا واغفرلنا ربنا انك انت العزيز الحكيم."

"Our Lord make us not (objects of ) torment for the disbelievers and forgive us, our Lord. Indeed it is You, Who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise."(60:5).

Aisha (r.a) said that the Messanger of Allah ( S.A.W)  used to say at night, if he turned over during his sleep, " There is none worthy of worship but Allah, the One, the Prevailing, Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver"

( A sound hadith recorded by Al Hakim).

Ar-Rahman

(Allah the Exalted said, 'I Am Ar-Rahman. I created the Raham (womb, i.e. family relations) and derived a name for it from My Name.  whoever keeps it, I will keep ties to him, and whoever severs it, I will sever ties with him.')

"The Arabs denied the name Ar-Rahman, because of their ignorance about Allah and His attributes.''

Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (r) said: "Al-Rahmaan is the Owner of vast mercy, because the fa'laan form in Arabic indicates vastness and abundance, as it is said rajal ghadbaan (a very angry man) when he is filled with anger.

Another narration in Muslim is reported by Salman Al-Farisi (ra): Messenger of Allah (saw) said, "Allah has hundred mercies, out of which one mercy is used by his creation for mutual love and affection. Ninety-nine mercies are kept for the Day of Resurrection.''

ArRaheem (The Most Merciful)
Root Word Ra-Ha-Meem

Alaah because of His Mercy rewards the believers in the Hereafter, and due to their belief and righteous deeds He admits them to Jannah.
When one knows that in the Hereafter,Alaah confines His mercy to the believers (and deals with the unbelievers with His justice),one will seek to worship Allaah and come nearer to Him in order to deserve this mercy in the Hereafter.
Allaah (swt) is Merciful,in the world, to both disbelievers and believers, and to the more pious and the pious among the believers.
I is mercy is only for the believers in the hereafter. "And He is Merciful (Raheem)to the believers."[33:43]
Allah loves those who are merciful to His Slaves and is most Merciful to them.
Allah will not show mercy to who ever does not show it to the people (AlBukhari,7376)
Abu Hurairah (Ra) reported:I heard Mesenger of Alah (Saw) saying,"WhenAlahcreatedthe creatures,He wrote in the Book, which is with Him over HisThrone:`Verily,My Mercy prevailed
over My Wrath" [AlBukhariandMuslim]
Abu Hurairah(ra) reported:Messenger of Allah (saw) said,"Allah has divided mercy in to one hundred parts; and Here tained with Him ninety nine parts, and sent down to earth one part. Through this one part creatures deal with one another with compasion so much so that an animal lifts its hoof over its young lest it should hurt it".
[AlBukhariandMuslim]

Al Maalik,  Al Malik,  Maalik AL Mulk

Root Word: Meem -Laam- Kaf

Allah has three Names that are similar to Malik: Maleek (مليك) and Maalik (مالك). The meaning for all three names is: One who possesses the attribute of Mulk. What is Mulk? Kingdom, dominion, power, authority. Mulk has three meanings:

1)   Possession and ownership (لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ To Him belongs the Ownership of the heavens and earth

AsSalam السلام

*AsSalam: The One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies.
The word 'salaam' comes from the root 'salema', which implies to disassociate oneself from evil and harm.
when we greet other Muslims, the greeting means: "No harm shall come to you from me (may no evil come to you, may no harm come to you)
And since AsSalaam is also one of the Beautiful Names of Allaah, the greeting of salaam also means, "May the blessing of His Name descend upon you, may Allah be with you, may Allah guide and protect you."
Allah gives in the Quran, an open invitation to all mankind to Daarissalaam (i.e. the Abode of Peace & Safety) [10:25].
He also gives with the Quran the guidance to Subulassalaam (i.e. the ways of Peace & Safety) [5:1516].
Not only this but He also gives in the Quran characteristics of people upon whom will be Salaam.
Salaam will be upon those who believe in the Ayaat of Allah [6:54] ;
those who follow AlHuda (i.e. the Guidance from Allah) [20:47];
those who guard themselves against the inevitable harmful consequences of violating Allah's Laws and Commands by careful observance [15: 4546, 39:73];
those who exhibit Sabr [13:24, 25:75];

those who never give false witness; who do not participate in assemblies of vanity, and when they pass near senseless play, pass by with dignity; who, whenever they are reminded of even the Revelations of their Lord, do not fall at them deaf and blind (with deaf and blind acceptance); who say, "Our Lord! Grant us that our spouses and children be a joy to our eyes (that they excel in character) [25:7275];

those who serve only Him and do not associate anything or anyone with Him (in service) [27:59]; and those who (ultimately) will go to paradise [7:46].
Easy entrance to paradise
`Abdullah bin Salam (ra) reported: The Prophet (saw) said, "O people, promote the greetings, feed (the poor and needy) and perform Salat when others are asleep so that you will enter Jannah safely.''
[AtTirmidhi].
